Memorial Hall

Year Built: 1922
Architect: James H. Ritchie

This building is dedicated to the UMass students who served as Marines- the names of every major campaign of the 20th Century are on plaques on the front of the building. The Army ROTC keeps guard outside on national holidays, and it's the location of the 21 gun salute on Veterans' Day. Memorial Hall originally served as the student center, and was home to offices, meeting rooms, and even a bowling alley. It is now occupied by the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs, though the main room is still sometimes used for student functions.

Cool Fact: Portraits of every UMass president and chancellor from 1863 on are in the main room. Enter the building from the side facing Bartlett Hall to see.
