Mary Lyon House

Year Built: 1959

Named for the founder of Mt. Holyoke College, the third and fourth floors of Mary Lyon House are home to the 2-in-20 program, a supportive residential community for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students and their allies. (Mary Lyon herself would probably be horrified- she founded Mt. Holyoke as a place for devout Christians, and was noted for her religious fervor.) The building as a whole houses 166 students.

Creepy Fact: In 1960, a women hung herself in the building's back stairwell. Because the stairwell was seldom used, the body wasn't found for a week.
